Pedestrian accidents responsible for Missouri deaths

Teenagers tend to think that they have their entire lives ahead of them. They make plans for the future while often paying little attention to the small details of today. Their concerns usually revolve around friends and school. They often do not realize that disaster can strike and change things forever. Recently, a Missouri teenager became yet another victim of pedestrian accidents caused by a hit-and-run driver.

The teenager was walking along the road when he was hit by a pickup truck. The driver of the truck kept on driving without stopping to check on his victim. Fortunately, there was a witness at the accident scene who was able to summon help for the teenager and gather license plate information on the truck. By the time the teenager reached the hospital, however, it was too late. He died as a result of his injuries.

Police were able to use the information provided by the witness to locate the truck believed to be involved in the fatal collision. It was found at the suspected driver's home and showed damage consistent with what was expected as a result of the fatal accident. The driver was arrested and charged with hit-and-run and manslaughter-related charges.

The loss of any person in such a manner is heartbreaking, but when pedestrian accidents take the life of a teenager, they seem even more tragic. This young man had his entire life before him. Now, his grief-stricken family must cope with his loss and the prospect of life without him in addition to the funeral and medical expenses. In such instances, Missouri families often find that the civil court system in a good place to start in the recovery process.
