Missouri man succumbs to car accident injuries

When Missouri families lose a loved one, it normally has a devastating impact. When the death is the result of car accident injuries, the family often has a lot of unanswered questions. Apart from missing the companionship of the deceased, they may now be facing serious financial difficulties. While mourning the deceased, the family will also have to cope without the income of the loved one.

On a recent Tuesday afternoon, a 38-year-old man was southbound on Lakeview Drive when he attempted to overtake another vehicle, driven by an 18-year-old male. For unknown reasons, he smashed head-on into an approaching commercial truck. The 18-year-old reportedly then T-boned the truck.

The older man who hit the truck first died from the injuries he sustained in the accident and was declared dead about an hour later. No mention was made in the media report about any injuries suffered by the younger man or the truck driver. However, it was reported that the 18-year-old driver was allegedly not in possession of a driving license, and he was taken into custody. His charges included a felony involuntary manslaughter charge.

The family of the man who died from the car accident injuries retains the right to file a wrongful death claim in a Missouri civil court. If evidence can be provided to show negligence on the part of the other driver, along with proof that he caused or was significantly responsible for the fatality, the court may award damages to the family of the deceased. This may assist them in covering the costs of the funeral and burial, and any other costs allowed under state laws.
