No family wants to hear that their loved one has been in a wreck. It can be even more devastating for families when a death occurs. Unfortunately, car accidents that result in fatalities are all too common in Missouri. Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that a 53-year-old man was recently killed in one such accident on April 7.
Two vehicles were involved in the collision on a local highway. The victim was driving northbound in his pickup truck when a driver headed west pulled out in front of him. His truck then struck the side of the car head-on. It then went off the road, finally coming to rest on the left side of the highway.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol indicated that the victim was not wearing his seat belt. He was thrown from the truck on impact and tragically died at the scene. The driver of the car was wearing her seat belt, but still suffered serious injuries. She was taken to a local hospital via ambulance.
Because of the severity of this accident, the family of the victim may consider filing a wrongful death claim in civil court. If their claim is successful, they could receive monetary damages that could help with funeral costs and any other financial losses related to the collision. Any Missouri families who have lost loved ones in car accidents could consult an experienced personal injury attorney for more information about filing a claim. An attorney could also provide support and guidance throughout the filing process.
