Multiple people injured in St. Charles head-on car accident

Car accidents are a common concern across Missouri, including in St. Charles County, which can leave individuals with injuries and death. These accidents can happen anywhere and at any time. People who leave their home and head out in their automobiles are certainly not expecting to find themselves hospitalized with injuries that require surgical procedures and long-term care.

Under no circumstances is anyone expecting that a fatal car crash will occur. Unfortunately, these kind of wrecks do happen, and there can be a variety of causes. Regardless of how one of these accidents occurs, a legal claim can be necessary for a victim and his or her family to hope to recover sufficient compensation for all that was lost.

Several people may be in this situation now after they were hurt in a head-on crash. The accident occurred at around 9:45 a.m. when a 2016 Acura MDX that was heading east collided with a 2008 Ford Edge that was heading west in the wrong direction. The 64-year-old female driver of the Ford and her 77-year-old male passenger were taken to the hospital with injuries that were said to be moderate. The 46-year-old male driver of the Acura, a 46-year-old woman, a 14-year-old girl and a 13-year-old girl were hospitalized, too. Their injuries were also said to be moderate. The investigation into the accident is ongoing.

Of all crashes, one of the most dangerous is the head-on collision. Because these wrecks often involve high rates of speed, people are prone to suffering severe injuries and death. There is an expectation that drivers will adhere to the rules of the road, such as stopping at red lights and stop signs, avoiding drinking and driving, and to paying attention when behind the wheel.

A basic requirement that is rarely noted because it is obvious is driving in the right direction. When a head-on collision occurs, an investigation is key to determine how it happened and who is at fault. The outcome of such an investigation can provide key evidence in a personal injury or wrongful death lawsuit. Given the long-term physical, emotional, and financial problems associated with these accidents, a legal filing might be needed if victims and families hope to recover compensation for their damages.

Although the injuries in this accident were said to be moderate, there can still be long-term aftereffects. Understanding why the driver went the wrong way on the road is a foundational factor that must be assessed. Those who were injured should consider contacting a law firm that has experience in car accident injuries to better determine their best course of action moving forward.
